Liechtenstein is a principality located between Switzerland and Austria. Around 40,000 people live here. At 160 square kilometers, it is the fourth smallest state in Europe and the sixth smallest in the world.

Integration Strategy

Overall, more than 100 different nationalities live in Liechtenstein. This means that there is great linguistic, cultural, and ethnic diversity in Liechtenstein.

In May 2020, the study "Integration in Liechtenstein" was published. Based on this, the integration strategy was developed. In 2021, the government approved the integration strategy. The goal of the integration strategy is the good integration of all people in Liechtenstein.

Integration means: All people live and work well together. They support each other and accept one another. Integration is important and remains important. Therefore, migrants are supported and challenged.

Annual Planning

The Ministry of Society has developed an annual plan together with a steering group. It specifies which projects and measures are to be implemented or started in a year.

The plan will be evaluated with the steering group at the end of the year. Afterwards, a new plan will be created for the following year.

Promotion of Integration Measures

Coexistence and orientation should be easy for all people in Liechtenstein.

Therefore, the Foreigners and Passport Office promotes various measures. These measures are intended to contribute to intercultural tolerance and improve mutual understanding and respect.

Promotion of Language Courses

In Liechtenstein, the official language is German. Knowledge of German is an important prerequisite for good integration and vocational training. Good language skills can increase the chances of obtaining a qualified, well-paid job. They also facilitate participation in other areas of life.
