Apartment Rent

When you rent an apartment, it means you have to pay a certain amount each month. This is called rent.

Often, a one-time deposit is required at the beginning. This is usually 3 months' rent. It is paid to cover any possible damages. You will get the deposit back when you move out unless you have caused damages to the apartment.

In addition to the rent, there are often operating costs and additional costs.

It is advisable to have household insurance.

Rent Contributions

Families and single parents with dependent children are entitled to rent contributions. The families must live in rented accommodation and have their residence in Liechtenstein for at least one year. Application forms can be obtained from the Office for Social Services as well as from all municipal administrations.

Waste

Disposal

Waste in Liechtenstein is subject to a fee. For this, waste, bulky waste, etc. must be affixed with fee stickers. The fee stickers can be purchased in most grocery stores. Waste and green waste collection is done once a week (see waste calendar). It is recommended to place green bins and waste bags at the roadside the evening before. Plastic

With the RecyBag, household plastics can be recycled. It can be purchased at special distribution points, and the collected plastics can be submitted at a collection point. Information about the collection points and collectable plastics can be found here:

Special Waste

A collection of recyclable materials is organized twice a year (spring and autumn). The respective date will be announced in advance.

Public Works - Recycling Collection Point

Landfills

    Drinking Water

    In Liechtenstein, tap water has excellent quality. This means that the water from the tap can be consumed in all buildings.

    On one hand, the drinking water comes from spring water. On the other hand, untreated groundwater is also used as drinking water.
